Ballet & Jazz
This class is the start of a longer course for absolute beginners in ballet. Here we enroll students aged 4 years and above.
The structure and technique of ballet are far more complex than that of jazz dance. Ballet is a form of dance that began during the Italian Renaissance in the 15th century and later developed into a form of concert dance in France and Russia. An artistic dance form that conforms to music using a precise and formal methodology and gestures. Nowadays it is known as the classical ballet. This ballet dance is made up of beautiful movements and movements of the toes and hands. Students studying ballet & jazz at our institute are given the opportunity to participate local and international festivals.
Jazz dance is rooted in African traditions, a culture which integrated dance and music into their daily lives. These dances were brought to America via the slave trade. Gradually, the dance moves and choreographies were mimicked by traveling musicians. Drumming was influential as, like in African dance, jazz dance mimicked and accentuated the rhythm of the music into isolations and movements of the body.
Here we train students for skill developing exercises that contribute to the coordination basics of ballet and jazz. Stretching exercises that contribute to stretching the muscles previously worked, and contribute to flexibility. Explanation and demonstration of basic arm and leg positions will be taught during this class.
